Support LWVKY

The LWV of Kentucky appreciates the great amount of time and energy spent by members and non-members alike in support of League and its programs.  But we also need money to fuel our activities and maintain a presence in Frankfort.  Here are some ways you can help.

GIVE CASH

Most people support their beliefs with gifts of cash or checks.  Such gifts can be made in honor of, or as a memorial to, a special person.

INVESTMENTS

Consider gifts of stocks, bonds, mutual funds and other properties that have increased in value.  Qualified assets held for at least one day over a year yield double tax benefits.  Such gifts are deductible at current value and you reap the added benefit of avoiding capital gains taxes that would be due on the sale.

TAKE INVESTMENT LOSSES AND GIVE CASH

If any of your investments have decreased in value, selling them and donating the money will lessen the impact of such losses because the donation may be reported as a charitable deduction.

REMEMBER THE LWVKY IN YOUR WILL

Include the LWVKY in your will - with a gift of cash or investments.  Ensure that things you care about are supported and always remembered.  Request information that you can give to your lawyer.

GIFTS OF LIFE INSURANCE

A Life Insurance policy can be purchased with the LWVKY as beneficiary.  The premiums can be tax deductible.  For a few hundred dollars a year, you can give a gift of thousands of dollars.

Donations to the League can be of two types.

  • Donations to the Education Fund are tax deductible and are used to investigate issues, educate citizens, and/or encourage voting.
  • Donations to the General Fund are NOT tax deductible.  These funds are used for general expenses and advocacy before governmental bodies.
  • Both types of donations are needed.

Additional information about any of the planned-giving activities described here may be obtained by contacting the League of Women Voters of Kentucky.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization devoted to promoting informed and active citizen participation in government.  The League does not support or oppose candidates or political parties.
